A few photos from the Burn launch

As you’ll see from the photos below, I had an awesome night when Marianne de Pierres and I launched Burn at Riverbend Books in Bulimba with another of our annual chats.

We had a great crowd and the buzz was fantastic. Thank you again to Marianne, the team at Riverbend Books (especially Vicky, Pauline and Lachlan), Text Publishing (especially Steph Speight), and everyone who came along and made it such a great night.

Paula, I am almost finished reading Burn – and I have cried so much through it (happy tears). Do you think you will ever revisit the Rephaim? I would love to read more about Gabe,Rafa and Jude, but also some of the secondary characters. Also maybe we can get you to write about what the future holds for all of them (including the fallen).

      Hi Tarissa,

Thanks so much for that lovely message. Glad you’re enjoying Burn. There’s certainly scope to explore other aspects of the Rephaim world, and I won’t lie: there’s definitely appeal in revisiting those characters, especially down the track. But I don’t have any immediate plans (or specific plot ideas), as I’ve got a few other totally new stories I want to explore first. But you never know what the future may hold… ๐Ÿ™‚

I am literally in love with The Rephaim series!! I’ve read it three times so far and I’m still planning on reading it again once I finish the 4th book Burn (again :)) I was literally screaming when I heard that Book 4: Burn came out! I waited for a year for the book to come out and it was worth the wait most definitely!! This is the only series EVER that I can read that always leaves me hanging on to that next part where there holds even more surprises!! Your characters are flawless! Rafa, Gaby, Jude, Ez, Zak uggh!! They are AMAZINGGGGG!!! I’ll never EVER get bored from any of the books! If anyone does, they’re crazy! I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH I WISH IT DIDN’T END!!! But the ending was amazing Paula Weston ๐Ÿ™‚ You are such a gifted and amazing author ๐Ÿ™‚ I really hope to see you write more books like this ๐Ÿ™‚ You definitely know how to suck people into your books and get them to visualise the situation themselves! I really wish there’d be a TV show on this!! OH GOSH IMAGINE THAT!!! I’d watch it over and over again ๐Ÿ™‚ You’re books and writing are on of the main reasons why I got into this kind of genre in books but I just can’t find another series like this, let alone a book! I LOVE THE REPHAIM SERIES SOOOO SOOOOO MUCH!!!
    You are amazing xx
(Sorry if this sounded corny, I’m just literally in love with this series!)
Can’t wait to see more ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you SO much Valerie! It means a lot that you love the series so much and that you can keep enjoy it with re-reads. That’s the best compliment you can give an author. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m writing a new stand-alone book at the moment (totally different characters and story) and will definitely keep writing for as long as people want to read my work (and probably beyond that…I can’t imagine not writing, even if it’s just for myself.) So thank you. ๐Ÿ™‚

I read Shadows, Haze & Shimmer again in anticipation of the release of Burn. I went to my local bookshop & got my hot little hands on a copy a few days ago but unfortunately, I still haven’t read it yet. I really want to but that means it’ll be the end of the Rephaim series ๐Ÿ™ Anyway, I will read it & I’m sure it’ll be just as good as the 1st 3 & will absolutely love it ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. paulaweston says:

Thanks Susan ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope you enjoy it when you dive in.

Looks like a wonderful night. I would have love to have been there. I really hope you can come Sydney way one day.

    1. paulaweston says:

      Me too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Ari says:

My preorder has still 32 days to go *sigh* (add to that the 2 weeks for shipping or more), but I am so utterly excited and I simply can’t wait to have it in my hands and devour each drop of ink from it!

Congrats for the party, for writing this series, for everything! You are amazing!

    1. paulaweston says:

Thanks Ari. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope you enjoy it when it arrives!

About Me

Iโ€™m the author of the Rephaim series and The Undercurrent.

For my day job, Iโ€™m a writer-journalist-professional communicator, where my writing involves a lot less profanity.

I grew up in regional South Australia and now live in the Scenic Rim with my husband and a retired greyhound.

If youโ€™re interested in how I came to land a publishing deal, you can read the short version in this post from August 2011. Thereโ€™s a longer version (in a guest post) here.
