  1. I got “Shadows” from the school library (I’m in year 12) 2 days ago and finished already!!! Absolutely LOVED it!
Can’t wait for the next book!

    • Great! I can’t wait!
Though, is there a release date?
If so I don’t know it, could you tell me if there is please? =)

      • Hi Lady: What part of the world are you in? Haze is out in Australia and New Zealand on 22 May. I need to double-check UK date (either June or October – I’ll confirm!), and the US/Canada release will be next year.

    • Hey sorry, it wouldn’t let me reply to the other post, but I live in Bundaberg Australia but am only a new fan of the series, unfortunately.. So I wasn’t up to date on the information.
      Thank you for the information!
      Really look forward to it!

  2. I picked up “Shadows” and I couldn’t put it down!! I’d finished it in less than a day! Can’t wait for “Haze” to come out!

      • Awesome! That is a good amount, because too many books annoy me because you have to spend heaps of money buying all of them, and you get annoyed waiting for the next one and trying to find all of them. At the same time, you never want it to end and want it lengthy as well. But, I reckon thats a good sized series πŸ™‚

  3. Hannah – I agree. I love writing this series and these characters, but I have a very definite idea of what I want to achieve in these four books. And what I want to write about next. πŸ™‚

    • Hi again, I was just thinking about it, and do you know what the third book is going to be called or are you still coming up with its name? I can’t help it, I am just really curious now I’ve started thinking about it, cause it reminds me of the twilight series with how all the titles are connected…

      • Yes, I do have a name for the third book. πŸ™‚ I thought I’d let Haze hit the shelves first and then talk about it a little while after that. So stay tuned!

  4. Yay! I will definitely keep checking to see if you’ve posted it yet. Can’t wait! I’m in a dilema, I don’t know where I can find your book other than on the internet. & if I buy haze off the internet that means I have to wait extra long for it to be posted and then get here! GRRR!!!

    • Nice work! I don’t have a formal release date for book 3 (I’m still writing it!), but I imagine it will be around this time next year, with book 4 a year later. I can’t imagine it will be more than 12 months between releases though. πŸ™‚

  5. This makes so much more sense. I live in Canada and I didn’t know it was released on may 22nd for Australia and New Zealand ONLY so when I found out it wouldn’t be released until next year I was so shocked!! I had been trying to find the book since it was released but with no luck and now I know why! I just read the first chapter and boy am I dying to have the book in my hands!! Would it be released early or late next year? Also, do you have any plans on writing anything in Rafa’s POV? I’d love to know what he’s thinking ❀ love Rafa!

    • Hi Sharon,
At this stage, Haze is scheduled for September 2014 in North America (with Shadows coming out this September), so it’s a little way away…Sorry! Re a story in Rafa’s POV: It’s crossed my mind, so is not entirely out of the question! πŸ™‚ He’s always fun to write, so you never know… Thanks for the message!
      Paula

  7. I love this series so much! I was very impressed with the first book and I just started Haze today! so far so good, im sure it will be great! I loved Shadows so much it incouraged me to start writing stories, and I guess im doing okay haha. C: Kepp uo the good work Paula!

  8. Oh, my.

Originally my friend who works at a bookstore knowing how much i love to read (she’s not really into the angel theme) gave me shadows…

It’s a phenomenal book, one of my favorites, unfortunately the release date for haze still feels so far away since I’m in Canada, so I’m trying to pace my self. It physical hurts.

Thank you for an amazing book, and outstanding job for your first one!

I’m excited for the rest of your books to come out.

    Sincerely;

    Your new book follower,

    Kayla Rowe

    • Thanks Kayla! I’m so pleased you enjoyed Shadows so much. Hope you love Haze too.

September will be here before we know it. And if it’s any consolation, you get the lovely hard cover versions of my books in your part of the world. πŸ™‚

      Happy reading!

      Paula

  9. Will Burn be the last book in the series? Also, when will it come to USA??? Love your writing style and can’t wait!!!

    • Thanks Alli. πŸ™‚
Yes, Burn will be the fourth and final book. Haze (#2) is out in USA this September with Shimmer (#3) in June 2015. Burn will follow after that (not sure of exact date, but possibly early 2016).

  10. Hi Paula loving this story line I just purchased Shimmer last night and finished it this afternoon, when I finished the book I thought there must be another book surely!! I did my research and see there is one more book to the series, do you have a date for the release of the 4th book? I,m Left in suspense……..

    • Thanks Rose! Burn is due for release around this time next year in Australia, NZ and UK. Yes, I know…a whole year, but hopefully the wait will be worth it. I’m well advanced with the first draft (almost finished – with LOTS of editing to do afterwards!), and I’m quite happy with how everything is coming together so far.

  11. I originally came across your books accidentally a few months ago and was instantly hooked! I have just reread the first 3 again and seriously looking forward to to the final book! Love reading books from local writers and in towns that I know or that I can see them being set in. Good luck with your editing and hope to be reading BURN soon πŸ™‚

  12. Hi Paula,
I’m 16 and The Rephaim series is my favourite. I love reading them, I love the way you have written the books. When the series is finished could you please continue to write books like The Rephaim series.

Hopefully one day the could become movies.

    • Hi Talia,
Thank you so much for the message. I’m so happy you’re loving the series. I hope you enjoy Burn just as much! And yes, I’m already dabbling with the next story I want to tell beyond the Rephaim series. It won’t be about angels, but hopefully it will still tick all the right boxes. πŸ™‚

  13. Any reason why the Canadian dates for book three and four are in 2016? It seems really far away given they have been released in other parts of the world!

    • Hi there,
This has been a decision by publisher in North America. Originally, my books were being released in hard cover and then – a year later – in paperback. After Haze (due out in paperback in September), they will be in paperback only. The scheduled release for the paperback edition of Shimmer is in March 2016, with Burn only three months later in June. So, yes, a much longer wait than expected between Haze and Shimmer, but at least it is a very short wait between Shimmer and Burn.

  14. I need Burn!! I neeeeed itttt!! I live in the U.S. and I don’t think I have it in me to wait!! Is there anyway for me to order it from Australia/New Zealand when it comes out over there?

  15. I absolutely love The Raphaim series! It’s one of my all time favourites. Cannot wait for Burn to come out! (Also, super proud as a fellow Aussie!) Dying for potential Rafa point of view chapters/scenes!!! Thanks for creating such amazing stories for us, Paula!

  16. I really cannot wait for it to be released in USA, i am trying to pre-order in Australia, it keeps telling me, it has not been released in my region, please dont make me wait till next year to read the burn pleaseeeeeee.

  17. I loved this series! I just finished Burn in one day! I know you said this is the last book but it seems like there are going to be more from the ending in burn? Is this a possibility? I really hope so!

  18. I live in the UK so I don’t have Burn yet; the wait is even more painful after the extract that was released! So, this means that I’ve had a lot of time to work out my theory of what i think might happen

The battle with the gatekeepers in Pan Beach is not the main plot point in the novel. Then, when the outcasts are travelling they find a 13/14 year old girl who has the Rephaite mark on her neck but obviously she doesn’t yet know about the Rephaim. Because she is genuinely 13, this clearly means that one of the fallen came out again recently to seduce a woman. It eventually transpires that it was (wait for it MASSIVE PLOT TWIST) NATHANIEL. This of course means that Nathaniel is a massive hypocrite so when Jude takes massive pleasure in telling the sanctuary Rephaim this, is caused utter anarchy and everyone joins the outcasts yay (even Daniel lol). Then because now that Jude and Gaby have their memories back, they will (or won’t they?) know what they did last year. I’m going to go with the mainstream assumption that they did find the fallen BUT PLOT TWIST the Fallen are now in league with ZARAEL and the GATEKEEPERS!!!!! Of course Gaby, Rafa and Jude the three musketeers lead the Rephaim into grand battle (but not before more beautiful moments between Gaby and Rafaaa :0). They then find Nathaniel was with them the whole time….
I also am very excited for the many flashbacks of what GabE was like and ESPECIALLY what happened between Gaby and Rafa….
I also have this huge vision of the moment the new Gaby/e with the re-acquired memories find Rafa again: she will walk up to him very calmly then punch him in the face and then embrace and kiss him passionately before saying “I remember”. (they are alone for this dramatic moment)

Or, alternatively, the battle is the main event and a ton of Rephaim die amid many shocking revelations that will leave me and the rest of your readers reeling and nursing a very severe book hangover.

Basically, I will love the book whatever way it goes and I literally cannot wait for another 6 days until it comes out in the UK!!!!!

  19. Hi Paula,

The Rephaim series is honestly one of the best book series I have read yet, and I read a lot!! I have gotten all my friends onto the books and they love them just as much as I do. Will we ever here more stories of Gabbi, Rafa, Jude and the crew or is this the end? (well not really the end but you know what I mean)

Thank you so much for the amazing journey!!

    Love from,
Georgia and the avid readers of Byron Bay

    • Hi Georgia,
Thanks for that wonderful message. Made my day. I don’t have any immediate plans to write more in the Rephaim world (I’m working on something totally new at the moment), but there’s certainly scope to further explore that world. So, never say never. πŸ™‚ Say hi to the rest of your Byron Bay crew.
      Paula

  20. Hi Paula,
I love this series very much. I am from the Czech Republic so i have a hard time finding these books. I only read the first two and I can not wait to read the rest of the series. I am a big fun of Rafa. Do you plan to wright something from his pov? That would be great.
Tank you for your hard work!!

    • Hi Dani,
Thanks for your comment. I’m glad you’re enjoying the series. I hope you like the final two books as well. πŸ™‚ I don’t have any immediate plans to write anything from Rafa’s perspective, but you’ll hopefully get a bit more insight into him in Shimmer and Burn.
Thank you for reading my books. πŸ™‚
      Paula

  21. Hi paula
I’ve only just recently come across these series of books and ive read them all within a week and now seriously having withdraws lol not much of a book reader but this one kept me up all night and I loved it I know burns the last but It feels like there’s more to come. Is there a possibility that there could be another one ?
Thanks heaps from a very HUGE fan πŸ™‚

    • Hi Stevina,
Thanks for the lovely message! πŸ™‚ I really appreciate it. I’m working on something totally new at the moment and don’t have any specific plans for further books featuring the Rephaim… but I never say never, and I do love those characters and that world, so yes, I have left an opening or two. Just in case. πŸ™‚

  22. Hi Paula!
I was wondering whether you were have any books that you are writing at the moment or are coming out soon?
    Thanks!
    Zoe πŸ™‚

    • Hi Zoe!
Yes, I’m working on a new project right now – a stand-alone novel that’s a totally new story. It’s set in Australia, is a thriller (I think that’s best way I can describe it!) and features a guy, and a girl who has a special ‘skill’. It will be published in 2017, so it’s still a little way away… I’ll be able to talk about it more later in the year. Thanks for your message. πŸ™‚

  23. I’ve just finished all the books in a silly short time frame. I got absolutely hooked in the rephaim world, and even after I’ve finished them I can’t stop thinking about them!! Will you be releasing more books about the Ankida?

    • Thanks Jess πŸ™‚ I don’t have immediate plans to write more books in that world (I have a totally new book due out next year – a stand-alone thriller), but certainly wouldn’t close the door to the idea down the track. I’m so pleased you enjoyed the series.

  24. Just read the first book shadows. As younger reader I truly loved the book. I just wish my school had the other 3 books so i could finish the series

  25. I REALLY loved every one of your books in this series! Honestly I could not put them down and I finished all four of them within 3 and a half days! You are an amazing author and I really hope that you don’t stop writing because I’m sure you have many more wonderful ideas to bring in this world! I really cannot wait to read what you have in store for us and I like so many of your other wonderful fans, will be waiting for your next book. Until then, I’m really REALLY hoping you would write and possibly publish a short story/novel about Jude and Daisy…? I absolutely adore them in every way imaginable. Thank you for your amazing work, it really made the bad days better πŸ™‚ Love from U.S!

    • Thanks Julie! That’s some power reading. πŸ™‚ I’m fully immersed in a writing a new, non-Rephaim book, but I do occasionally daydream about Jude and Daisy…so who knows. πŸ™‚
Thanks so much for your message. I really appreciate it.

I'd love to hear from you. (I've had issues with spam, so your comment will come to me for approval before it appears.)
